South Gloucestershire Labour councillors spoke on a variety of topics at Full Council last night, including our Youth Justice Plan, charging VAT on private schools to fund 6,500 new state school teachers, and the quick work of the Council’s Streetcare team to sort a fallen tree in Winterbourne.

Other topics that came up included Labour’s promise to bring in free breakfast clubs in every primary school, the new youth bus ‘DORIS’, and Labour’s plans to introduce multi-year financial settlements for local councils – enabling them to plan more easily and higher people on longer term contracts.

Group Leader Ian Boulton said there had been “14 years of misrule” from the previous Conservative government, and it would take a decade to bring the national renewal Labour has been pledging.
