Labour’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Local Place has attended the launch of South Gloucestershire Council’s youth bus, DORIS!

DORIS stands for Delivery of Rural Inclusion and Support.

The bus enables youth provision for young people who don’t or can’t access it normally, for example because they live rurally and don’t have a club near them.

From this month, DORIS will start to deliver a regular programme of detached youth work across South Gloucestershire, providing opportunities to have fun and learn skills, boost self-confidence, create friendships, and receive mental health support.

The work will also help reduce the potential for violence among young people.

The bus is funded by the Council’s Violence Reduction Partnership and Public Health, along with Home Office funding distributed via the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).
