The South Gloucestershire Labour Group Leader and Council Co-Leader has written a letter to the Chancellor and Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, urging them to give local councils like ours more funding.

Ian Boulton’s written to both Chancellor Jeremy Hunt and Michael Gove about the lack of funding for local authorities like South Gloucestershire, which is prompting tens of millions of pounds in cuts and efficiency savings over the next five years.

A public consultation on the budget has now launched and can be accessed here. It ends on December 8th 2023.

Funding from central government to South Gloucestershire Council has decreased by more than 30 percent over the past seven years. A link with more information is here (enter South Gloucestershire in the yellow ‘Select a local authority box in the downloadable spreadsheet).
