Councillor Pat Rooney, Leader of the Labour Group on South Gloucestershire Council

I thought I would like to provide an update from the South Gloucestershire Labour Group as to the work we are continuing to carry out in our wards.

I firstly must send a big ‘Thank you’ to all of our Council employees who have shown great commitment and dedication to all of our residents. Many working out of their normal day job to carry out and deliver the necessary and much needed roles during this unprecedented time.

Our Labour ward Councillors have set up and joined many groups within Kingswood, Staple Hill, Filton and Patchway to support our most vulnerable residents, delivering food parcels, prescriptions and chatting to many people in self isolation who have not ventured outside of their homes in 7 weeks. We are very appreciative of all of the food banks, Faith groups and health and wellbeing experts who have supported our groups so that we can offer a wide range of support to our local communities .

I am proud that Labour Councillors have demonstrated how they can reach out, support and sensitively approach many different issues we are being confronted with on a daily basis.

I know that our local Community groups will continue to work for our residents for as long as they are needed and we shall continue to support you.

We look forward to the time when we can all return to some sort of normality but until then, Please stay safe and keep well!
