PRESS RELEASE

In his election leaflet Jack Lopresti, MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke is pictured standing in the grounds of Christchurch Junior School. On 16th November the School tweeted Mr Lopresti to say “I am politely requesting that you remove @CCJDownend picture from your leaflet campaign. We cannot and do not affiliate or promote any political party as per section 2 of the local government act 1986. Please retract these leaflets and stop any further drops.” Despite the School’s intervention this leaflet (complete with photo of the school) is still being delivered to homes in the area.

Councillor Adam Monk said: “I am extremely disappointed that our MP is completely ignoring the very clear and public request of Christchurch Junior School not to use the picture taken within the school grounds on his election material. This for me sums up Jack’s attitude to education within South Glos where until he was publicly embarrassed by the CEO of one the local academies highlighting Jack had failed to attend any debates on school funding even though South Glos Schools are the lowest funded in the country”.
