There are several elections taking place on May 2nd 2024: Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), neighbouring Bristol City Council elections, and also a by-election in the New Cheltenham ward of South Gloucestershire.

The by-election is taking place after former Labour councillor Sandie Davis stepped down due to ill health.

Ian Boulton, Group Leader, said: “Sandie resigned as councillor for New Cheltenham due to ongoing health issues.

“She’s been a key member of the Labour Group at South Gloucestershire Council and all of us in the local Labour Party send her our love and thanks for her service to the Kingswood community.”
