South Gloucestershire Labour’s frontbench addressed poverty, inadequate school funding and home insulation at Council last night.

A running thread through many of our answers to questions was the lack of central government funding to local authorities, which affects services and exacerbates problems in families and communities.

In order of video appearance:

  1. Cabinet Member Leigh Ingham addressed cuts in government grants for home insulation (which in turn have repercussions on climate change and human health).
  2. Co-Leader and Cabinet Member Ian Boulton reminded members that South Gloucestershire’s schools are the worst funded in the whole of England, in terms of per pupil funding.
  3. Cabinet Member Alison Evans referred to new statistics from Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire, showing that poverty is increasing in our area.
